Catastrophic flooding hits Myanmar

Another extremely heavy monsoon, plus the fringe of a cyclone, has inundated Myanmar, causing large area of the centre and North to become flooded.

Many people are homeless and although the government has responded much better than after Cyclone Nargis, it has itself admitted that it’s been too slow and too little. The government priority is on the areas which are unreachable by road.

Our team has joined up with four other local NGOs to deliver aid to Magway, one of the worst hit areas but fortunately still reachable by road. They leave for a first trip on August 6th with 100 50KG sacks of rice donated by Helping The Burmese Delta, and will also assess the situation. We have medical volunteers standing by.

We delivered substantial aid after Nargis so our team is fully competent to do what’s needed.

If you’d like to support this mission you can donate to a dedicated fund at CAF or by BACS to sort code 40-52-40, a/c no. 00016850.

Thank you!
