The Team
In the UK
The founders of Helping The Burmese Delta are May Tha-Hla and her husband Jon Wilkinson.
May Tha-Hla was born in Rangoon to a Burmese father and English mother, and came to live in England in her teens. She is completely bi-lingual and bi-cultural. After completing her degree in Psychology at Warwick University, she has made her career in qualitative market research. During the last fifteen years she has run a research company in Burma in co-operation with her brother and sister-in-law, and as a result has made over 50 trips to Burma.
Jon Wilkinson is British and after graduating from Oxford University in Chemistry joined Unilever, and then WPP, working in marketing and market research. He was CEO of Research International Ltd until retirement, and is now Chair of Hestia, a housing charity for disadvantaged people.
Roger Banks is our third trustee. Roger was born in Kuala Lumpur and holds a BA(Econ) Hons and a MA(Econ), both from the University of Manchester. Most of Roger's professional career has been spent in market research, and he has lived and worked in the UK, in the USA and in Singapore. He is currently Managing Director of Incite Marketing Planning.
Ingrid Gipson is responsible for designing our house style, website, and other communications, and is also spearheading important fundraising efforts. Ingrid was born and brought up in Hong Kong and now lives in the UK. She has worked as a graphic designer for the past 12 years, co-running a web design company, working in the E-learning industry and now for MW Kellogg Ltd.
Chris Greaves FCA is our financial consultant. Chris specialises in providing financial advice and services to the charity sector.
We would also like to thank Steve and Elaine Miller for getting our initial website up and running, and Steve Lewins for the development of the current site.
In Burma
We have a team which includes a consultant senior lawyer, and an operations group responsible for sourcing and distributing supplies. We have excellent contacts with other local organisations who are organising emergency aid missions, and longer-term help.
